Picking Speed and Technique: Alternate Picking, Legato, Sweeps
Speed on guitar means the absence of extra motion and tension, not the force of the strike. This section covers pick grip, alternate picking, string crossings, downpicking, and hand synchronization exercises.
Once the basics are clean, move on to legato, slides, economy picking, sweeps, tapping, and hybrid picking. Raise the tempo in small steps with the Riffonic metronome and do not chase the number while the sound is still unclean.
